Yoga and Chiropractic Care?

Beyond the fitness benefits of tightening and toning the body, yoga has long been touted as a healing activity that can help alleviate depression, relieve stress, and decrease anxiety. 

Chiropractors have begun recommending the benefits of yoga to their patients. Specifically, around the improvements in flexibility and overall spinal health.

The spine is the main support for the body. Chiropractic treatment is primarily intended to align the spine and balance the body. The spine houses most of the central nervous system and provides pathways for neural impulses to move throughout the body.

Chiropractic treatment is a very effective method to treat pain. The benefit of chiropractic treatment is that without the use of medications, this non-invasive approach is used to treat chronic pain, sports related injuries, and even injuries sustained as a result of automobile accidents. Chiropractic care has afforded patients relief of symptoms when nothing else worked.

 The combination of yoga with chiropractic treatment only increases in its effectiveness while strengthening the body and making it better able to respond to manipulations. A number of patients are discovering tremendous health benefits from combining these two modalities.

Yoga is the perfect therapy for a chiropractic patient who is looking to help to lower blood pressure, decrease stress, and strengthen the body’s core. Yoga is helping to strengthen the muscles surrounding the spine and providing better support while chiropractic care is working to bring the spine into alignment and balance the body. Yoga’s positive effect on blood flow and relaxation help to increase chiropractic’s efficiency as a pain management tool.

Both yoga and chiropractic help with balance, flexibility, and mobility, but they come at it from somewhat different approaches. By these two methods supporting one another, the result is a more balanced, well rounded treatment of the problem areas.
